Foundation News
The St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Foundation, Inc. was established in 2003 for the purpose of receiving charitable gifts from its members and friends. This Foundation will allow you to designate mission and ministry projects you want to support in your lifetime as well as when you have gone to your eternal home. Thus, you will be permitted to "have a say" in what your gifts will accomplish even after you are gone. This non-profit charitable corporation is affiliated with and is organized and operated exclusively for the benefit of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church and School, Fort Dodge, IA 50501.
What are the benefits of the Foundation?
The gifts will improve the financial strength of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church and School. A stronger financial position will be used to expand the work of the church.
How will these charitable gifts benefit you, the giver?
The Foundation provides a means for us as Christian stewards to demonstrate and express in a tangible way our deep gratitude for God's many gifts and blessings to us. A gift to the Foundation is a reflection of our faith and Christian love over and above our normal regular support of the ongoing mission and ministry of our church. The Foundation is a qualified charity according to the Internal Revenue Service, and contributions to it are tax deductible.
Purpose...
The Foundation was established to receive contributions, both large and small, to fund specific projects and activities as well as purchases which are not normally supported by the operating budget of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church and School. This is accomplished by distribution of earnings from a permanent endowment fund, which is supported solely by individual gifts and contributions. Your gifts to the Foundation will be a source of perpetual income, since only the investment earnings are spent, not the principal sums, unless otherwise specified by the donor.
Assurance of Charitable Contributions...
All gifts to the Foundation are charitable contributions and, as such, are deductible for Federal and State tax purposes. The pastors and members of the Foundation Board will be pleased to meet with you to discuss your gifts to the Foundation.
You, as a contributor, are urged to consult your attorney or tax consultant before completing arrangements for a gift.
Making a gift to the Foundation...
There are many different ways in which you can participate in the Foundation's activities, depending on your desires and financial resources. The more common methods include the following:
Remembrance Giving
Gifts may be given in memory of friends and loved ones, or in honor of birthdays, anniversaries, baptisms, or other special events.
Gift of Property
Gifts of cash, stocks, bonds, real estate, or other property may be given under a will.
Bequest of Property Through a Will
A gift of cash, stocks, bonds, real estate, or other property may be given under a will.
Charitable Remainders
Gifts may be given wherein you retain the interest income during your lifetime and upon your death the ownership of the property is transferred to the Foundation.
Life Insurance Bequest
The Foundation can be named as a beneficiary in a life insurance policy for which the premiums are paid by your or you may gift a policy to the Foundation.
